Sedation Dentistry

There are many reasons why people may not seek dental care, but two of the most common reasons are extreme anxiety and lack of time for multiple appointments. Sedation Dentistry helps address both of these issues. Both Dr. Wilson and Dr. Fizer are licensed to offer conscious oral sedation and both maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Sedation Dentistry with Dr. Fizer and Dr. Wilson in Lousiville KY

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation Dentistry enhances patient comfort. After an initial consultation, your Sedation Dentistry appointment will be scheduled. You will arrive one hour before treatment is planned to begin to receive the medication. You will be given a crushed pill to hold beneath your tongue that makes you relaxed throughout your dental appointment. Even though not technically asleep, most of our patients describe the experience as seeming to be asleep. They feel drowsy and unaware of the time passing by. Most have little or no memory of the appointment. Once you are comfortable and the medication is working, the dentist will begin your dental treatment. During the entire appointment you will be monitored continually by our specially trained team of professionals to ensure safety. At the conclusion of the appointment, you will need an escort to drive you home.
